The apparent ease of making pictures creates the impression that photographic art is easy. I think it is quite the contrary. This portfolio is more a form of artistic expression.
A composition is an arrangement or combination of elements, and in photography it is the product of vision and skill in seeing and framing the image. I love shapes, lines, patterns, colours, but most of all I like to bring all these together in an image.
Moments captured in the African bush
Dusk and twilight are my favourite times to make photographs. The fundamental element in photography is light, and the quality of light in these golden hours is magical. Timing is everything.
Rather than recording the colours of the object these images are produced in a single hue. They show ranges of tones and textures that are hard to achieve with colour photography.
I find capturing people hard. It is rewarding though since it forces an interaction, and I have never had a bad experience.
